Train Accident in Rockview Missouri

Rockview Missouri CSX UP Train Accident

On Saturday, May 25, 2013, a BNSF freight train was t-boned by a UP train, which caused a train derailment. A UP train engineer and crew member was injured in the train collision. Several passengers in cars driving on an involved overpass which collapsed, also were injured in the train accident.

The BNSF Railway Company and Union Pacific train accident occurred just a little over a week after two Metro-North commuter trains collided in Connecticut, injuring more than 70 people.

The NTSB is investigating to determine the cause of this Missouri train accident, whether failed signals, train speed or possible other causes played a part. This is the second train accident involving the UP on this area of tracks so far in 2013. The NTSB determined the cause of the January 2013 train accident to be weather related.
