Amtrak Train Accident Attorney

Amtrak’s Palmetto Train 89 traveling from New York to Georgia, along the Northeast Corridor, was involved in a serious train accident near Philadelphia on April 3, 2016.  The Amtrak accident involved a collision with backhoe equipment on the same track as the Amtrak train.  Two Amtrak employees died at the scene and approximately 35 Amtrak passengers and crew members were injured.

Amtrak has a responsibility to exercise an ordinary duty of care to ensure its passenger rail service is operated as safely as possible and to prevent passengers and crew from suffering serious injuries or wrongful deaths.  The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Amtrak and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) are investigating to determine the cause of this Amtrak train accident.  They will investigate why the backhoe equipment and Amtrak train were on the same active track and what if any part speed, mechanical and/or communication failures may have played a part in the Amtrak accident.  (Preliminary NTSB Report)
